Summer 2024 in Halifax is now at it's half way point and Busker Fest plus Natal Day is just around the Conner!

 By Kendall Worth

As many of you regular readers of my BLOG know I have throughout this Summer been reporting on the free events that take place here in HalifaxSome exciting free events happening for Natal Day and the Busker Fest are just around the corner. People living in poverty may not have money for getting out and socializing, but please do not let this factor stop you from attending what is free.

I choose this photo because getting outside in the Fresh Air is great for mental health. Also this photo Represents Natal Day well because on Natal Day is when the Bridge Walk happens.

The purpose of me reporting on this is because one major issue I advocate for, through my BLOG, is solutions at low and zero cost to get out and socialize with people. While attending the free events over the summer months is a low cost/zero cost solution for the months of July and August.  I am also advocating for longer term solutions. Providing solutions at zero cost is important for the community of people I advocate for through my BLOG,  because money is not in their budgets for taking advantage of social activities that members of the financially better off community takes advantage of.

I invite you to click on this link here  https://worthmatters.blogspot.com/search/label/social%20prescription  where I provide several BLOG posts where I talk about what solutions could look like. Many BLOG posts included in this link about Social Prescriptions also illustrates the point I made in the first paragraph.

As I pointed out in this BLOG post here https://worthmatters.blogspot.com/2024/07/providing-encouragment-for-thoese.html many welfare recipients who are also mental health consumers argue that getting out and attending the free events that offer music over the summer months is also therapeutic for mental health. For the other free events that have come and gone see https://worthmatters.blogspot.com/2024/06/and-now-summer-season-of-2024-kicks-off.html    and here https://worthmatters.blogspot.com/2024/07/advertising-some-more-upcoming-summer.html

Another point that was made by one welfare recipient I spoke with recently: Attending these free events is a good break from our regular attendance at places like the soup kitchens, drop-ins and food banks which we normally attend in our day-to-day lives. I personally could not agree more.

This Photo Represents one of may Great Acts to watch while taking advantage of attending Busker Fest.
